The multiple homegrown hops I have planted at my house and my parents house twenty minutes away are doing well in 2014. I started my hop plants in the spring of 2005 and have always brought rhizomes with me wherever I’ve moved.
My buddy gave me a nugget hop two years ago. I wasn’t sure where I was going to put it the first year, so it stayed in a pot a bit too long and basically lost a year. I found a decent spot on the west side of my porch and last year the happy little hop plant showed some progress. I’m also pleased to say it is showing great progress this year. Four bines are moving along nicely. I only have one stringed up currently, but will get the others taken care of shortly. I hope to get just a few ounces from this plant this year, maybe just enough to dry hop or aroma hop one batch later this fall. I’ll keep you updated on how the plant continues to grow throughout the summer. Below is a picture from April 15th.
